Ashgabat and Bishkek discussed transit, creation of a joint fund and export of oil products
13.09.2024 | 21:30 |Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Nazarbek Malayev took part in the Turkmen Investment Forum, which was held on September 10-11 in Ashgabat.
As part of the forum, he met with the heads of several departments of Turkmenistan - Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammetkhan Chakyev, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Babaniyaz Yalakov, Deputy Minister of Energy Serdar Saparov, Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmennebit" Guvanch Agadzhanov and others.
During the meetings, a wide range of cooperation issues were discussed, including interaction in the fields of trade, energy, industry, investment, and transport, according to a press release of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The parties noted the need to intensify work to simplify trade and transit procedures, increase trade turnover, and create favorable transit conditions for freight carriers. The officials agreed to hold online meetings with the participation of relevant ministries and departments to consider and implement mechanisms for unifying transport, transit, and visa fees, simplifying procedures for export, import, and transit operations, obtaining visas for freight carriers, and increasing their validity to one year.
In order to stimulate businesses to implement joint projects, representatives of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed to strengthen work on the creation of a joint investment development fund, the implementation of a project to build the Turkmenistan Business Center and a resort and recreational facility in Kyrgyzstan.
The issues of exporting electricity and oil products from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan were also discussed. In addition, on the sidelines of the Investment Forum on September 11, an online meeting was held between Director General of the Turkmen Postal Service Company Serdar Ovvadov and Director General of Kyrgyz Post OJSC, during which the parties signed an agreement on long-term strategic partnership.
The purpose of this agreement is to establish stable ties in the field of postal logistics and e-commerce. According to the parties, the agreement opens up new opportunities for the development of e-commerce, exchange of experience and technology, which will ultimately contribute to strengthening the economic and social infrastructure.
