World Bank Experts Trained Turkmen Specialists for the Upcoming Enterprise Survey
14.08.2024 | 15:05 |Last Friday marked the conclusion of the World Bank's Enterprise Survey 2024 training course. This training prepared local interviewers and supervisors for the first-ever World Bank Enterprise Survey in Turkmenistan, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economy and implemented by "Standart Hyzmat" Individual Enterprise.
The primary goal of the training was to equip local specialists with skills in survey methodologies, data collection techniques, and ethical standards. Ten local professionals participated in the training, which was led by Arvind Jain and Nazim Tamkoc, experienced economists from the World Bank. They provided comprehensive sessions on survey techniques, data quality assurance, and fieldwork logistics. Practical exercises and simulations were included to enhance the learning experience, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for the upcoming survey fieldwork.
The Enterprise Surveys are a global initiative that provides critical insights into the business environment of World Bank member countries. The data collected will cover various aspects of business operations, including access to finance, infrastructure, competition, and business performance. This survey will help Turkmenistan join the World Bank’s Business Ready report, a significant step that will help policymakers to quantify the business enabling environment and identify (potential) areas for improvement. Inclusion in this report is expected to lead to programs and policies that will increase private sector growth.
"Standart Hyzmat" Individual Enterprise, with its extensive local knowledge and expertise, will ensure the successful implementation of the survey. “Standart Hyzmat” was hired by the World Bank through a competitive procurement process. Their involvement underscores the importance of local partnerships in achieving accurate and comprehensive data collection. The Ministry of Finance and Economy, also a partner in this project, plays a crucial role in providing the project’s technical inputs such as the survey’s sample frame and also the universe tabulation of eligible establishments.
