The 15th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Secretariat of the Central Asia – Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum was held in Seoul. At the meeting, the ambassadors of the Central Asian countries, including Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan Begench Durdyev, and Director General of the Northeast and Central Asia Bureau of the Korean Foreign Ministry Yong Shin Kang discussed organizational issues of preparation for the 17th meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies of the dialogue states, which will be held in November 2024 in the Korean capital.
The diplomats reviewed the preliminary agenda for the upcoming meeting in Seoul this fall, as well as the work plan of the Secretariat of the Central Asia - Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum for 2025.
According to the Turkmen diplomatic mission, special attention at the meeting was paid to issues related to holding the second meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, which will be held in Ashgabat this fall.
The 16th Central Asia - Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum was held in Ashgabat on November 1, 2023. The first meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea was held in September of the same year in Seoul.
In June 2024, President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Seok-yeol visited Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
And the first Summit of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea format is scheduled to be held in 2025 in Seoul.
