Oriented on making people closer

On Saturday, July 13, the regular meeting of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the seventh convocation considered and adopted new bills, including on ratification and accession of the country to international conventions and agreements, legislative support for foreign policy initiatives.

In particular, the deputies approved the ratification of the Protocol to the Agreement between Turkmenistan, on the one hand, and the European Union and its member states, on the other hand. Parliamentarians also voted to ratify the Amendment to Article VI of the Charter of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and decided to accede to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention.

During the meeting, in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan “On the Ombudsman,” the authorized representative for human rights in Turkmenistan, the Ombudsman, spoke to the deputies about the work done by the Ombudsman’s office and the state of human rights in the country.

And also the Laws of Turkmenistan on amendments and additions to the Budgetary, Sanitary Codes of Turkmenistan, the Code of Turkmenistan on Social Protection of the Population, the Laws of Turkmenistan “On Physical Education and Sports”, “On State Scientific and Technical Policy”, “On Scientific Institutions”, “On the Fight Against Doping in Sports”, “On Seed Production” and “On Introducing Additions and Changes to Some Legislative Acts of Turkmenistan” were adopted. These laws will contribute to the creation of a legal framework for carrying out activities in various systems in accordance with the requirements of the era, that is, improving the organization and functioning of the state budget system, the activities of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service, the introduction of a digital system in the work of the Pension Fund of Turkmenistan, the development of relations in scientific system, physical education and sports services, the fight against doping in sports, strengthening control over the provision of organizational and methodological assistance to the legal profession and advocacy, modernizing the activities of bodies entitled to state registration of acts of civil status, regulating relations related to bringing seed production activities in accordance with demand of the time.

In connection with the holding of elections of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on July 7 of this year instead of those who dropped out, the meeting adopted a resolution of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan “On Recognition of the Powers of Deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Elected in Individual Electoral Districts”. Some organizational issues related to the composition of the Mejlis committees were also adopted.
