China sets up world's first 6G field test network

A group of Chinese telecommunications engineers have developed the world's first 6G field test network, China daily reports.

The development team was led by Zhang Ping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

The network combines a communication system and artificial intelligence. It serves as a platform that facilitates the efforts of research institutions to conduct theoretical studies and initial validation of key 6G technologies.

The network has also proven the ability to create 4G and 5G links with 6G data capabilities with significant improvements in capacity and coverage, the team said.

China is working to commercialize 6G, the next generation of wireless technology after 5G, by around 2030, with 6G standards expected to be established in 2025.
