The International Mendeleev Olympiad of Schoolchildren in Chemistry will be held from April 21 to 26 in Shenzhen, China, on the basis of the Russian-Chinese University of Moscow State University-SPI. According to the organizers, this year the record number of countries that will participate is 29.

Among the participating countries are Austria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, North Macedonia, UAE, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Cuba and others.

The event will be held outside the CIS for the first time. So, in 2023, the Olympiad was held in Kazakhstan, and in 2022 - in Uzbekistan. Ashgabat hosted the 43rd Mendeleev Olympiad in 2009. Then the winners of national chemistry Olympiads and teachers from more than 15 countries arrived in the Turkmen capital.

The winners of the Olympiad, in addition to medals and diplomas, will receive special prizes in 2024.

Tasks for the participants of the Olympiad are traditionally more difficult than those given at the World Chemistry Olympiad. They require not only a strong theoretical background in various fields of chemistry, but also a creative approach.
