This year, smartphone shipments will grow by 3%

By the end of this year, smartphone shipments will increase by 3% to 1.2 billion units. This conclusion was reached by specialists from the international analytical company Counterpoint Research.

Representatives of Counterpoint Research believe that shipments of smartphones costing less than $150 this year will decrease by 4%, while models in the range from $150 to $249 will immediately increase by 11%.

For the year as a whole, India, the countries of the Middle East and Africa will demonstrate the greatest purchasing activity in the smartphone market.

Smartphones from OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and Transsion Group will be popular in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Demand for Apple products will also remain high. Huawei will strengthen its position in the Chinese domestic market.

In the premium segment (from $600 to $799) on a global scale, sales of new smartphones will be stimulated by the proliferation of models with flexible displays and devices with support for artificial intelligence functions.

In the long term, as Counterpoint Research analysts note, the smartphone market will grow by several percent annually, and the minimum values for supply volumes were passed last year.
