Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nuruddin Azizi arrived in Turkmenistan at the head of a representative trade and economic delegation, which also included 15 women entrepreneurs, TOLO news reported.
The Afghan Ministry of Trade and Industry has already published information about the meeting of the delegation with Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev. The parties welcomed joint efforts to develop trade between the two countries, discussed transit routes through Turkmenistan and investment opportunities.
Business events designed to showcase the potential and resources of Afghan manufacturers in Ashgabat take place from March 3 to 5 and include an exhibition of Afghan goods, as well as a bilateral business forum, which opens on Monday.
According to TOLO news, in Ashgabat the Afghan delegation expects to conclude several “good” contracts for the supply of products, including marble, and also agree on the simplification of some trade mechanisms.
15 businesswomen from Afghanistan will also present their proposals to the Turkmen market, which they see as an entrance to the market of the Central Asian region as a whole.
The work program of the visit of the Afghan delegation includes a number of separate meetings, the focus of discussions is increasing mutual trade turnover, developing transit and logistics infrastructure and facilitating trade operations for businessmen of the two countries.
