SpaceX wants to make individual satellites of the Starlink Internet service closer to consumers

SpaceX intends to make individual satellites of the Starlink Internet service closer to consumers. To do this, the company submitted an application to the US Federal Communications Commission with a request for permission to place some of its satellites at an altitude of 340-360 km above the Earth's surface. This is almost 200 km below the orbits currently in use.

Ultimately, the stability and quality of service for consumers, businesses and rapid response services using the Starlink satellite Internet will increase.

In particular, this will allow SpaceX to provide satellite services to consumers with less delay, ensure the efficiency and stability of applications for remote work, distance education, and telemedicine.

Working in low orbits will also reduce the risk of potential collision of satellites, and facilitate the process of decommissioning them if necessary.
