Apple became the largest smartphone manufacturer last year
By the end of last year, Apple became the leader among smartphone manufacturers. Such preliminary data is provided by an international research company specializing in the study of the global information technology and telecommunications market, International Data Corporation (IDC).
In 2023, Apple shipped 234.6 million smartphones. This is 3.7% more than in the previous year.
Thus, the company took a 20.1% market share.
Apple has outperformed the South Korean corporation Samsung in this indicator. Last year, Samsung shipped 226.6 million smartphones, which is 13.6% less than in the previous year. Its market share was 19.4%.
In third place is China's Xiaomi, which delivered 145.9 million units in 2023.
Speaking about the total volume of smartphone shipments in the world, by the end of last year it decreased by 3.2% to 1.17 billion units.
