The 27th Ice and Snow Festival opened in Changchun, China.
14.12.2023 | 00:35 |The 27th Changchun Ice and Snow Festival opened in the capital of northeastern China's Jilin Province, featuring more than 30 entertainment venues.
This year's festival is held at the Changchun World of Ice and Snow theme park, which covers an area of 1.56 million square meters. The park features 120 compositions, the creation of which required a total of 738 thousand cubic meters of ice and snow, Xinhua reports.
According to the organizers, more than 140 events related to the fields of tourism, culture, sports, trade and economic activities, etc. are planned as part of the current festival.
First organized in 1998, the Changchun Ice and Snow Festival is one of the country's most important winter holiday events and attracts many tourists every year.
Data from Chinese tour operator Ctrip shows that ski bookings for Changchun ski resorts increased 628% in December this year as compared with the same period of the last year, while the volume of winter tourism group tours sold jumped nearly 15-fold year on year.
The Changchun People's Government notes that the ice and snow industry, which is emphasized in Jilin Province, is emitting more and more new energy and vitality every year.
