UAE issues new banknote to celebrate COP28
30.11.2023 | 15:51 |The UAE Central Bank has issued a new polymer Dh500 banknote to mark the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) kicking off in Dubai and the country's National Day celebrations.
The banknote design reflects the UAE's innovative approach to sustainable development and the government's commitment to promoting sustainable solutions.
The front side of the banknote depicts the Sustainable Development Pavilion at Expo City Dubai, and the reverse side depicts the Dubai Museum of the Future, which connects the past with the future.
The reverse side of the polymer banknote also features iconic Dubai landmarks - the Emirates Towers and the Burj Khalifa.
As part of its commitment to sustainable development, the Central Bank used polymer material, making the new banknote more durable than traditional banknotes. This material is 100% recyclable and reduces environmental impact.
Maintaining its commitment to inclusivity, the UAE Central Bank has included prominent banknote symbols in Braille to help blind and visually impaired consumers recognize the banknote.
