Stability in Eurasia is important for the flow of energy resources to Pakistan - Ambassador

Maintaining stability in the Eurasian region is key to the uninterrupted flow of energy resources to Pakistan. This was stated to a BELTA correspondent by Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus Sajjad Haider Khan, who took part in the high-level international conference “Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World.”

He noted that a significant portion of Pakistan's energy needs is met by importing oil and gas from the Middle East and Central Asia.

“Megaprojects such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the ongoing Central Asia-South Asia Energy Project (CASA-1000) are aimed at meeting Pakistan’s growing oil and gas needs. Both of these projects originated in the Eurasian region, and therefore maintaining stability and friendship in its territory is key to the uninterrupted flow of energy resources into Pakistan,” Sajjad Haider Khan explained.

“In addition, Pakistan’s seaports can effectively serve as a key transit and transport hub for goods and energy resources transported to Central Asia, the Middle East and South Asia,” the ambassador concluded.
