Russia to consider options to assist Afghanistan
25.04.2020 | 15:30 |The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation will consider all available opportunities to assist Afghanistan in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during a briefing with journalists on April 23.
According to her, the principle position of Russia is “that not one of the requests for help is left unattended and all available opportunities for assistance are considered." “We are convinced that this request will be considered in the same way,” Zakharova said.
In addition, on behalf of the Russian Foreign Ministry, she called on the warring Afghan parties “to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the territories under their control”, and countries operating in Afghanistan “not to reduce the volume of humanitarian aid.”

The media reminds that according to Zamir Kabulov, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second Asia Department, an appeal of the Afghan authorities to help in curbing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic is being considered.
As of April 23, the total number of coronavirus cases has reached 1,226, according to the Health Ministry of Afghanistan.
