The Italian villa-hotel Passalacqua was recognized as the best hotel in the world in 2023 according to the British publishing group William Reed, which compiled the list of The World's 50 Best Hotels. The rating was compiled based on the results of voting by 580 international experts of the hotel and tourism industry.

The Champion Hotel is a villa built in the XVIII century, previously owned by the composer Vincenzo Bellini and located in the Italian town of Moltrasio, on the west coast of Lake Como. The old mansion, now a respectable luxury hotel, took first place in the prestigious British rating just two years after its opening.

24 luxurious rooms are located in 3 buildings surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens with olive groves and terraces with mimosas, roses and magnolia. Original frescoes, gilded mirrors, Murano glass chandeliers and many more unique architectural details and design solutions are offered by Passalacqua to its guests.

The William Reed list includes more than 20 hotels located in Europe. As they say, European hospitality and luxury do not leave guests indifferent. London has once again confirmed its reputation as a world tourist center. Four hotels were included in the prestigious rating – Claridge's (16th place), The Connaught (22nd place), NoMad London (46th place) and Savoy (47th place).

In total, the UK has six positions in the list: the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland took 32nd place, also receiving the Art of Hospitality award –

special recognition for the excellent quality of service. The Newt Hotel in Somerset took 37th place with the additional award Carlo Alberto Best Boutique Hotel.

Paris is literally on the heels of London and also occupies four positions in the ranking: Le Bristol (29th place), La Réserve (31st place), Cheval Blanc (34th place) and Hôtel de Crillon (50th place). The list also includes the prestigious hotels of the Cote d'Azur - Hotel Du Cap-Eden- Roc and The Maybourne Riviera, as well as Eden Rock on Saint- Barthelemy – the smallest island of the French Antilles.

Other European hotels marked by the jury members are located in Athens, Madrid and Italy.

Then comes Hong Kong with its fashionable hotels. In second place "the best" is the Rosewood Hong Kong Hotel, located in the Victoria Dockside Arts and Design district. The 65-storey hotel with 413 rooms includes 11 restaurants, a spa, a swimming pool, a fitness center and is decorated in a modern style of "restrained luxury", where special attention is paid to functionality, quality and nobility of materials.

There are 17 other properties in Asia that have been included in the World's Best Hotels 2023 list, among them Hong Kong's The Upper House, Four Seasons Bangkok and Aman Tokyo.
