Apple introduced the first line of iPhones with USB-C instead of Lightning

The new generation of iPhones will have a USB Type-C port instead of the proprietary Lightning, which Apple did not want to abandon for many years.

The iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max models with USB Type-C connector were first presented on Tuesday at Apple headquarters in Cupertino.

The main reason for the transition is the law of the European Union, which obliges to produce and import into its territory only those mobile devices that have a single USB Type-C connector by the end of 2024.

Apple said that switching to USB Type-C will improve the compatibility of their products with other devices and accessories, as well as simplify the charging and data transfer process. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, USB Type-C is the "future of technology" that will provide "the best experience for our customers."

The new iPhone models have also received a number of other improvements, such as a more powerful A16 Bionic processor, a more advanced camera with optical zoom and night mode, a brighter and more energy-efficient OLED display, as well as support for 5G and Wi-Fi 6E.
