The Rolling Stones have inspired fans with a hint of the first album of new songs in almost 20 years
24.08.2023 | 21:41 |Rock music legends The Rolling Stones seem to have announced a new album by placing an advertisement in a small local newspaper.
"It's not the most traditional way to announce your first album of new songs in almost 20 years, but this is The Stones... They have more than earned the right to do as they please," Euronews states with respect.
So, in the Hackney Gazette (Hackney is one of the quarters of London), a mysterious advertisement appeared for Hackney Diamonds, which calls itself "glass repair specialists".
The advertisement looks quite normal at first glance, but on closer inspection several signs indicate that we may be talking about the "teaser" of the new album of the "Rolling Stones": the presence of an iconic logo in the form of a tongue instead of a dot over i in the brand name and references to hits (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, Gimme Shelter and Shattered.
"Our friendly team promises you satisfaction. When you say "Shelter us" (Gimme Shelter), we will fix your shattered windows," the advertisement says.
Fans of the "Rolling Stones" also noticed that the font used to write the Hackney Diamonds text coincides with the font used on the band's 1978 album Some Girls. The advertisement also says that the company was founded in 1962, the same year that the group was created.
So could this advertisement be their announcement, and Hackney Diamonds (in London slang - broken glass) - the name of the long-awaited new album with original songs? Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards remain silent for now. But, apparently, an official announcement is just around the corner. The advertisement says: "Opening in September 2023." It's coming soon…
The newspaper advertisement also contains a phone number where buyers can call and find out the price. If you call this number, you can hear the recorded message: "Welcome to Hackney Diamonds, a glass repair company. Don't get angry, fix it! Opening in early September, Mare Street, E8. Register for a reminder on the website www.hackneydiamonds.com . Come." The last phrase - Come on then - can also refer to the Chuck Berry song Come on, which Jagger-Richards co-sang in 1963.
If this is really a new Rolling Stones album with brand new songs, then it will be the first since the 2005 album A Bigger Bang and the first album without drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021 at the age of 80. This, by the way, is attributed to him the idea of coming to a press conference in an open-body truck, performing one of the band's compositions. So it happened in New York in 1975, The Rolling Stones played Brown Sugar in the middle of Manhattan.
Legendary frontman Mick Jagger celebrated his 80th birthday in July this year. Rolling Stones guitarist and co-songwriter Keith Richards is almost the same age, but while 79 years old, he will celebrate a round date at the end of the year. The youngest in their musical triad is 76–year-old Ronnie Wood. These "oldies" are timeless, and rock is still alive.
