Turkmenistan and FAO improve efficiency of land use in the country

International consultants Yvette Zenina, Karolina Starr and Viktor Lagutov put together a portfolio of water and land proposals that meet FAO priorities. After the undertaken preparatory measures, a fruitful period of interaction between the parties is expected, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
Mainly, it was about the use of modern technologies for the development of land use in the country. In this context, the city of Ashgabat can be a vivid example, experience of which in creating blooming oases can serve as a basis for further improvement of work in this direction.
The implementation of projects to improve the efficiency of water use will be concentrated in one of the northwestern regions of the country using water metering sensors. In addition, it is planned to create a meteorological station and improve the waterworks of irrigation systems.
As part of the meeting, scientists from the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan demonstrated developments in the field of environmental management, including those based on geoinformation technologies and remote soil sensing.
