Minsk to host International Summer School on Applied Demography of the CIS countries

The International Summer School on Applied Demography of the CIS Countries will be held for the first time at the Belarusian State University. It starts on June 26 and will run until July 1, BelTA informs.

Students of economic and geographical specialties from the Commonwealth countries will be able to take part in the educational campaign. It will be possible to get into the school on a competitive basis - the authors of the best essays on the topic "The role of demography in the daily life of society and the development of the state" will receive the right to study for free. The work together with the application must be sent before May 12 to the address of the organizers.

It is expected that the event will allow BSU scientists to share their experience with future specialists and increase their interest in cooperation through joint project activities in the field of demography. Leading Belarusian experts in the field of demography and GIS technologies will prepare master classes on working in the ArcGIS software package and geoprocessing of spatial data. The listeners will get acquainted with the open statistical databases of the National Statistical Committee of Belarus and develop a mini-project on the subject of the school.
