The EAEU is interested in investing in the infrastructure of the ports of Turkmenistan and Iran

Investing in the construction of infrastructure in the sea and dry ports of Turkmenistan and Iran was proposed by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking on Thursday at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) in Moscow. Joint investments will significantly expand the geography of exports of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and strengthen the logistics capabilities of the member countries of the organization, he noted. This is reported by the official Telegram channel of Akorda.

The President of Kazakhstan expressed confidence that the EAEU would eventually become a link between Europe and Asia, the global South and North. At the same time, Tokayev pointed out the need to develop the North-South transport corridor in conjunction with the trans-Caspian route, emphasizing that Kazakhstan in this project will act as a reliable logistics hub of the Eurasian Economic Union and will use all its capabilities and resources in this regard.

For the speedy implementation of the announced plans, the head of Kazakhstan proposed to launch high-speed freight trains along the Chelyabinsk-Bolashak-Iran railway line with a length of 2873 kilometers. A section of the Bolashak-Iran highway passes through the territory of Turkmenistan, Tokayev said.
