 Ashgabat Wellness Day – International school invites to relax

In the age of advanced technologies, rapid dynamics, and constant busyness, people completely forget about the most important thing - good health and mental well-being. Reducing the environmental impact on spiritual health is no less important than sports and proper nutrition, and in this regard, a Wellness day will be held in Ashgabat for the first time.

The event will take place at the Ashgabat International School on Sunday, May 21. Lara Tuncer, a senior student of the school and co-organizer of the event, told the editorial board of ORIENT more about what awaits visitors, how the idea of the project came, and what wellness is:

— Please, tell us, what triggered you to organize such an event?

— To be honest, the idea appeared suddenly. Last year I took wellness in AP psychology, and I thought it would be nice to organize something relaxing with my friends. I talked to my mom and she liked this idea as well. She discussed it with the parents support group, the school administration, and this Sunday we are already holding the first ever Ashgabat Wellness Day.

— Why wellness? What is it and how does it differ from a healthy lifestyle?

— Well, I'll try to explain (laughs). The concept of a healthy lifestyle implies a healthy diet, regular physical activity / sports, rejection of bad habits, etc. In other words, healthy lifestyle is the maintenance of physical health. Wellness implies spiritual, mental health. In the concept of wellness, much attention is paid to stress relief and relaxation. Wellness supporters also adhere to the principles of healthy lifestyle, but, in addition, they also take care of their mental health and peace of mind.

— What are your expectations? Is there any final goal?

— This is our first day of Wellness. We are all very excited, so I don't even know what to expect. Whatever it is, it will be a new experience. We will be happy to receive feedback so that we can organize such an event again next year, taking into account all wishes and suggestions. I would like people to enjoy this day without any stress. We will share methods of self-relaxing, so even if guests come with a stressful mindset, they will be able to have a good time. This event is different from those that we organized earlier. Instead of entertainment, we will focus on concentration, relaxation and mental well-being. The target audience is 12+. There are a lot of activities waiting for visitors: from yoga and meditation to 3D fitness and neurography. Organic products, self-help books, the public will also have the opportunity to get advice from a visiting psychologist and attend a boxing master class. We can't wait to see our guests!

The event will start at 4:00PM and last four hours, until 8:00PM. The organizers ask to come in sportswear and bring personal mats. Entrance fee is 50 manats.
