 Ashgabat discusses issues of interaction between CIS countries in the fight against terrorism

The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan held consultations of representatives of the CIS countries on the interaction of states in the fight against terrorism.

The meeting, which was attended by authorized representatives of Turkmenistan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee, discussed security challenges and threats at the global and regional levels.

The parties also considered the possibility of expanding collective efforts to combat terrorism within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized structures.

They also discussed the possibility of expanding interaction between the competent authorities of the CIS countries, as well as the mutual provision of necessary legal assistance. Once again, the importance of the CIS and its industry bodies as the main platform for strategic cooperation was noted.

The participants also touched on the adoption of preventive measures against the radicalization and financing of terrorism. A special role in this is assigned to civil society and the media.
