Oriented on making people closer

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa held talks on Wednesday in Manama.

The parties discussed priority issues of Turkmen-Bahraini cooperation, confirming their readiness for its further intensification in all areas. Focusing on the prospects for trade and economic partnership, the heads of the two states also stressed the importance of interaction in the humanitarian and cultural sphere as an integral factor in the rapprochement of the peoples of Turkmenistan and Bahrain, strengthening the bonds of friendship between them.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on a number of topical issues on the international and regional agenda of mutual interest.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited the King and Crown Prince, Prime Minister of Bahrain to visit Turkmenistan in the near future. The invitation was gratefully accepted.

Then the talks continued in an expanded format, with the participation of official delegations from both countries. The ceremony of signing documents took place at the meeting.

Among them, at the intergovernmental level, the Agreement on Air Communication between the two countries was signed; memorandums of understanding in the field of crafts and traditions, in the field of maritime transport; in the railway transport sector, in the field of general, technical and higher education, as well as in the area of standardization, certification, accreditation and metrology were also signed.

At the interdepartmental level, a memorandum of understanding was adopted between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Diplomatic Sciences named after Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain; Cooperation program between the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Department of Culture and Antiquities of the Kingdom of Bahrain for 2023-2027; Agreement on cooperation between the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Bahrain Development Bank.

In addition, in order to develop trade and economic relations between the two countries, Bahrain granted Turkmenistan the status of an official partner in maritime and air transportation within the framework of the Global Logistics Hub.

As a result of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Bahrain, a joint communiqué was adopted.

In continuation of the visit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on the invitation of the King of Bahrain, visited the equestrian ground on the territory of the royal palace, where a demonstration of horses was organized, and also visited the National Museum of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In addition, the head of Turkmenistan visited the Bahrain Economic Development Council and met with the leadership of this structure.

Upon completion of the official visit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov left for his homeland.
