The representative office of the Turkmen Railways (Turkmendemiryollary) will open in Russia, and the office of the Russian Railways company in Turkmenistan. An agreement on this was reached in Moscow during a meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission for Economic Cooperation, the press service of Russian Railways said in a statement.

The experts included this item in the Cooperation Development Program for 2023-2025. The document was signed by Azat Atamyradov, head of the Turkmendemiryollary agency, and Oleg Belozyorov, general director of the Russian Railways OJSC.

The bilateral Agreement also regulates cooperation in increasing cargo transportation, developing logistics points and services in this area, organizing a regular container route along the North-South eastern route and a regular train delivering agricultural products, raw materials and industrial goods between Turkmenistan and Russia in the shortest possible time.

The parties also agreed to implement projects for the construction, modernization and reconstruction of the railway infrastructure of Turkmenistan and to exchange experience in improving the skills of personnel. Training is also expected in the field of digitalization.
