The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia prepared the concept of the project of the Turkmen-Russian University

This was announced on Tuesday by Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov during a meeting in Moscow with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbangul Atayeva, according to the website of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

The Turkmen-Russian University will open in Turkmenistan. This year, the Russian department received a letter from the Turkmen side with the initiative to create a joint university. In response, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation prepared a concept and action plan for the implementation of the project, Falkov said.

He also said that the Russian side has already prepared a draft intergovernmental agreement on the establishment and conditions of the university, taking into account the preferences of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan - the university will train technical and medical specialists according to the standards of the Russian educational program. A list of specialties and areas of higher education training was sent to the Turkmen colleagues, the Russian official specified.

During the meeting, it was also noted that the Russian Ministry of Education and Science pays close attention to the development of cooperation with Turkmenistan in the field of education - careful work is being carried out to train highly qualified Turkmen specialists for various sectors of the economy. At the moment, more than 30,000 citizens of Turkmenistan are studying in Russian universities, of which over 4,000 are on a budgetary basis. According to the results of this year's admission campaign, 385 applicants from Turkmenistan were admitted to higher education institutions according to the quota of the Russian government, the Russian minister said.

In turn, Gurbangul Atayeva stressed that the popularity of Russian education in the country "remains at a consistently high level" and expressed her interest in training personnel in the field of digitalization and cybersecurity. She also proposed to expand cooperation in the study of the Russian language and organize internships for the country's teachers in Russian universities.
