The second day of the XV International Scientific Conference "TurkmenTel-2022" in Ashgabat was devoted to the topics of communication, cybersecurity and data protection. Over the years, the Turkmentel Conference has become one of the significant events in the region, bringing together participants from many countries and raising important issues in the development of telecommunications and information technologies.
The growing need to expand communication channels between countries and continents has led to the creation of the Trans-Asian-European fiber-optic cable connection. Khodzhaniyaz Avganov, Director General of the Turkmentelecom telecommunications company, spoke about projects for the development of the backbone and intrazonal transport and communication network in Turkmenistan in his speech at the forum.

– In recent years, we have designed and put into operation fiber-optic communication lines between all regions and villages of the country, increased the network capacity for data transmission transit. To date, Turkmentelecom has six international connections based on DWDM equipment with such operators as Kazakhtelecom, Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI), Afghantelecom and the Afghan telecom operator AfganWireless, Uzbektelecom, Avganov said, stating readiness to consider all proposals for the transit of international traffic in the above directions.
He also spoke about the project being implemented with Azer Telecom on the joint construction, ownership and use of a fiber-optic communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
In addition, "Turkmentelecom" and the Kazakh communications operator Jusan Mobile are working on the construction of the second international joint of the fiber-optic line in the section Karabogaz (Turkmenistan) – Temir Baba (Kazakhstan).
The strategy of "Turkmentelecom" in terms of the digital transformation tasks set at the national level is to provide access to broadband and high-speed communication networks in all settlements and in all corners of the country, Khodjaniyaz Avganov emphasized.

He noted that in recent years, hundreds of low-capacity digital telephone exchanges have been installed throughout the country, designed for operation in rural and remote settlements. And since volumes and revenues from voice traffic are steadily falling all over the world, Turkmentelecom pays special attention to the introduction of new, additional services for users.
Avganov also highlighted a number of projects funded by the Islamic Development Bank. In particular, it is planned to modernize the main transport network with an increase in the bandwidth between regional centers by more than 100 Gb/s; expansion of the existing Internet access network by three times; replacement of the existing international station with IMS, taking into account redundancy; expansion of the fixed telephone network based on GPON, etc.
Work continues on the formation of e-government, the portal of state services of Turkmenistan – e.gov.tm, which is an automated information system "single window" for the provision of public services in electronic form for citizens and businesses, has been created. The principle of "single window" allows for the centralized acceptance of documents from the applicant for services, as well as control over compliance with the deadlines for preparing documents and issuing them.
