2024 to be held in the Turkic world as the “Year of Magtymguly Fragi”
08.11.2022 | 07:48 |The year 2024 will be dedicated to the Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi. This decision was made at the 39th meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY, held in Bursa, the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2022. The final declaration from the Turkmen side was signed by Minister of Culture Atageldy Shamuradov.
At a meeting in Turkey, the delegates discussed and approved a plan of cultural events that will be held throughout 2024 under the auspices of the “Year of Magtymguly Fragi” and dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great classic of world literature.
In Turkmenistan, festive celebrations will start with the opening of the cultural and park complex and the monument to Magtymguly Fragi. Recall that in February 2021, the President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree on the celebration in 2024 of the 300th anniversary of the outstanding classical poet of the East. At the same time, the organizing committee began to create a digital site “Portal of Magtymguly Fragi”, which tells about the life and work of the Turkmen philosopher.
Also, at a meeting of ministers of culture in Bursa, it was decided to declare the Turkmen city Anau "The Cultural Capital of the Turkic World – 2024".
