On Sunday, members of the government of Turkmenistan and the leadership of the transport and communications department of the country held a series of bilateral meetings with heads of delegations and high-ranking representatives of different countries and international organizations.
The negotiations were held on the eve of the Ministerial Transport Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries, which will open in Turkmenbashi on Monday, August 15, and will bring together delegates and speakers from about 40 countries, UN agencies, regional and subregional associations, financial institutions.
The working meetings held on the eve of an important forum in the Berkarar hotel in Avaza included not only issues from its agenda, but also a broader topic of interaction, both in the transport direction and in other areas.
In particular, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held meetings with Executive Director of the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries, Dulguun Damdin-Odom, and OSCE Coordinator for Economic and Environmental Issues, Igli Hasani.
The Foreign Minister also met with Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Rostam Ghasemi, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Mahdi Safari, as well as Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE Suhail Al Mazrui.
Head of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammetkhan Chakiev also discussed the prospects for cooperation with OSCE Coordinator for Economic and Environmental Affairs Igli Hasani, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Rostam Ghasemi Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahdi Safari, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA Asset Asavbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Main Directorate Transport of Saudi Arabia Albad Fahad Suliman, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE Suhail Al Mazrui and Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov.
Separate meetings with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Mahdi Safari were held by Deputy Prime Ministers Shahym Abdrakhmanov, Charymyrat Purchekov and Annageldy Yazmyradov.
In addition, interdepartmental consultations were held at the level of transport and communication organizations.
