The President of Turkmenistan congratulated Draupadi Murmu on her election as President of India

In a telegram sent on this occasion, the Head of Turkmenistan noted "the established and traditional friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of India", and also expressed confidence in the further development of bilateral cooperation.
The Turkmen leader addressed Draupadi Murmu with good wishes for health, happiness and success in undertakings aimed at the prosperity of India.
On July 21, 64-year candidate from the National Democratic Alliance Draupadi Murmu was elected the 15th President of India. She received more than 64% of the vote in the parliamentary vote.
Draupadi Murmu got into the political elite of India from the very bottom of the social ladder. She comes from a remote area in the state of Odisha in the northeast of the country and belongs to a small people of the Santals, whose representatives are mainly engaged in agriculture. Murmu managed to get an education at a women's college, after which she worked as a teacher.
Her political career began in the late 1990s with a small position in the Irrigation and Energy Department of Odisha. Already in 2000, Murmu was appointed Minister of Energy of the state. In 2015, she became the governor of the neighboring state, Jharkhand, and served in this position until 2021, media reports.
