Turkmen leader Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited his colleagues in Central Asia to think about protecting the information space in the region and developing more active professional contacts at the level of government news agencies of the five countries for this purpose.

Maybe it is worth developing some kind of code of ethics when covering sensitive topics, the President of Turkmenistan suggested, speaking about security challenges in the region at the 4th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, held on Thursday in the Kyrgyz city of Cholpon-Ata.

He also put forward a proposal to organize a Central Asian media forum on security issues. Such a forum could focus the attention of state information agencies, print and electronic press on topical issues in this area, develop approaches to creating a positive information background and contribute to a better understanding of the real situation in the region, efforts for the peaceful and stable development of Central Asia.
