 The possibility of desalination and water supply from the Caspian Sea to Ashgabat will be studied in Turkmenistan

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to study the possibilities of building desalination plants and supplying water from the Caspian Sea to Ashgabat.

The task was given to Deputy Prime Minister Annageldy Yazmyradov during a working meeting on the state of affairs in the agricultural sector and water issues, which the head of state held via videoconference on Wednesday.

The President also instructed to establish a government commission headed by Yazmyradov and including in its composition the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the State Committee of Water Management, the Supreme Control Chamber, scientific institutions, regional administrations, etc.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov pointed out the need to check the channels of the Amu Darya, the Karakum River and other rivers for their condition and fullness in order to eliminate the factors interfering with this, to clean and concreting channels and watercourses.
