UNDP supports the development of electronic data interchange system in Turkmenistan

UNDP Turkmenistan together with the Agency "Turkmenaragatnashyk" of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan conducted a series of consultations with the involvement of the Estonian consulting company "Proud Engineers" on the development of electronic data interchange system (EDI).

The event, which gathered representatives of the Ministries and State entities of Turkmenistan aimed at developing a Roadmap for the implementation of the EDI system in Turkmenistan in accordance with the State Programme for the Development of the Digital Economy for 2021-2025. The EDI system is an important stage in the process of digitalization of public services for people and businesses in the country. EDI helps to simplify procedures while facilitating the exchange of business documents and data across a variety of platforms and programs.

The consultations also included discussions on introducing the personal identification number (Personal ID) of citizens, as well as the electronic signature and other digital services.

The event was organized within the framework of Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between UNDP in Turkmenistan and "Turkmenaragatnashyk" Agency signed earlier this year.

The purpose of the Memorandum is to expand cooperation in the field of digital transformation of public administration by introducing an electronic data interchange system in Turkmenistan, including the design and development of the system, improving the regulatory legal framework to implement the system of electronic data interchange, introducing international best practices and increasing national potential in the field of digital transformation of public administration.
