 Berdimuhamedov discussed trade contacts with the head of the "Turkmenistan-USA" Business Council

On Thursday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed by phone with the head of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council Eric Stewart the state and prospects of trade and economic contacts between the two countries.

The joint projects currently being implemented and planned for the future in various industries, the activities of American companies in the Turkmen market, including global manufacturers John Deere, Case, General Electric, Boeing, were considered.

Berdimuhamedov welcomed the participation of leading US corporations in the sectoral modernization projects and programs of Turkmenistan, confirming the readiness to further develop the partnership.

The President also noted great opportunities for expanding cooperation in the oil and gas industry and in the development of renewable energy sources, the chemical industry and the transport sector, in the field of food production technologies.

As noted, the exchange of experience in these and other areas is facilitated by bilateral business forums and other business events with the participation of companies from the two countries.

The Turkmenistan-US Business Council was established at the suggestion of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a meeting with US business circles held at Rockefeller Center, New York in 2007. Since then, this business structure has been fruitfully working to develop the Turkmen-American trade and economic cooperation. With the participation of the Business Council, business forums, exhibitions, numerous meetings with the heads of large American companies and firms demonstrating active support for the course of diversification and reforms of the economy of Turkmenistan are organized.
