Gibraltar becomes the first country worldwide to complete coronavirus vaccination
Gibraltar has become the “first nation in the world” to complete its COVID-19 vaccination, RIA Novosti reports it citing Great Britain’s Health Secretary Matt Hancock. “We provide Gibraltar, as we have with all other British overseas territories, with vaccines. And I am delighted to be able to tell the house that yesterday, Gibraltar became the first nation in the world to complete its entire adult vaccination programme,” Hancock said. The British overseas territory has a population of just around 34,000 residents. In addition, foreigners living there have the right to participate in the vaccination program. Earlier, Hancock said that at the end of March in the country due to interruptions in the supply of COVID-19vaccines, the pace of the vaccination campaign would decrease. However, the authorities are committed to providing vaccination opportunities for anyone over 50-years of age and over by mid-April. As of date, the UK uses coronavirus vaccines by AstraZeneca, Pfizer and BioNTech. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula.
