ECO’s Ashkhabad summit became an effective platform for regional solutions

Ashkhabad hosted the 15th summit of heads of the states-participants of the Economic Cooperation Organization, as the capital of the country-chairman in the Economic Cooperation Organization in 2021. It was held on Sunday, on ECO Day, under the chairmanship of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Heads of the states and the governments of ECO member countries took part in the summit, in particular Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

Berdimuhamedov opened the forum, welcoming honoured guests, and gave the floor to chairman of the 14th ECO summit, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Then the chairmanship at the 15th summit was passed to the President of Turkmenistan.

Speaking at the meeting, the Turkmen leader underlined that the given forum is urged to strengthen cooperation of the countries-participants in economic, trade-investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Developing upon a growing dynamics of the dialogue of Turkmenistan with ECO as a whole, Berdimuhamedov noted successful development of friendly, good-neighbourhood relations with each member state of the Organization.

The heads of the states and the governments, ECO Secretary General who spoke at the forum also marked that the present summit - an important platform for decision-making on actual and key aspects of regional economic cooperation within ECO.

Now ECO represents the important, authoritative international economic structure, which was recognised in the world, and today's meeting is urged to strengthen even more the relation of friendship, good neighbourhood and effective mutually beneficial partnership between all member states, to define areas of joint work for the forthcoming period.

Participants of the 15th ECO summit adopted the Final document at the end of its work.

Then, the ceremony of awarding of ECO under nominations «science and technology», "economy", «history, culture, literature and fine arts» and «agriculture and environment» took place.
