«Development of strategic long-term relations with Turkey is one of the priority directions of foreign policy of Turkmenistan» - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during the joint press conference with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after negotiations and signing of bilateral agreements in the Oguzhan palace on Saturday.
Having thanked his counterpart and the Turkish delegation for the fruitful meeting, the Turkmen leader noted that the condition of interstate relations and interaction area in the future was evaluated and the aim of long-term cooperation was confirmed.
Berdimuhamedov underlined that both countries have similar approaches to international issues and supported continuation of coordination of activity of two countries on platforms of the United Nations and other international structures, including regional, such as the Organization of the Turkic speaking states, which Turkmenistan has joined as an observer.
The President of Turkmenistan said that both countries would continue cooperation with a view of effective struggle against general threats of modern epoch, international terrorism and drug trafficking, situation stabilisation in Afghanistan, improvement of its economic and social status and rendering of humanitarian aid.
Berdimuhamedov pointed out the reached arrangement on development of transport-transit corridors in the direction of the East-West, including the transit corridor on the route Afghanistan –Turkmenistan –Azerbaijan –Georgia –Turkey. In this context, the head of the state emphasised on use of the port Turkmenbashi for creation of effective transport corridors between Caspian and Black seas.
Berdimuhamedov informed that the agreement on work on deliveries of energy resources to the European market had been reached. For us, it is important he said that Turkmen energy resources would be safely delivered to the markets by various routes. Turkmenistan and Turkey taking into account mutual interests are ready to develop cooperation diversification in this branch, the head of the state stated.
