The Turkmenbashi refinery complex will produce hydrogen in Turkmenistan

The Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries (TKNPZ) plans to build a hydrogen production unit. Today the company announced an international tender for the development of relevant tender proposals.

The project will prepare technical documentation for the design, construction and commissioning of a new hydrogen plant.

Earlier in May of this year, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the leadership of the country's fuel and energy complex to increase the pace of work in the field of renewable energy sources and hydrogen energy.

The Turkmen leader noted that hydrogen is the fuel of the future, the production and study of which is extremely important in the light of the concern of the world community with the problems of climate change.

Later, at a high-level Global Roundtable on Extractive Industries as an Engine of Sustainable Development, Berdimuhamedov took the initiative to start developing a Strategy for the Development of Low-Carbon Energy and an international roadmap for the development of hydrogen within the UN.

The President of Turkmenistan urged to consider hydrogen as one of the priority areas in the energy sector, and added that in the near future Turkmenistan is ready to start discussing the criteria for the implementation of the initiatives put forward by the country at the expert level.
