President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, who is taking part in the celebration of Independence Day of Turkmenistan.

Minnikhanov conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Turkmen leader and assured that Tatarstan sees Turkmenistan as a good friend and extremely promising partner.

Berdimuhamedov also noted the high level of Turkmen-Tatarstan relations in the context of strategic cooperation with Russia.

The meeting continued in an expanded format. During the dialogue, the sides considered ways to diversify cooperation based on the accumulated successful experience, an example of which is the partnership of Turkmenistan with large Tatarstan enterprises – “KAMAZ”, “Tatneft”, Kazan Helicopter Plant, etc.

The parties focused on trade and economic cooperation and the possibilities of increasing mutual trade, as well as establishing contacts in the industries, agriculture, and high technologies.

The negotiations ended with the ceremony of awarding President Rustam Minnikhanov with the Order of Turkmenistan "Garaşsyzlyk" ("Independence").

Presenting the order, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that the current event is a confirmation of the inviolability of the bonds of friendship, mutual respect and trust between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
