Berdimuhamedov invited Rahmon to the ECO summit in Turkmenistan
18.09.2021 | 17:20 |President Berdimuhamedov invited his Tajik counterpart to take part in the summit, which in their mutual opinion will play an important role in the development of international dialogue and practical cooperation.
President of Turkmenistan Berdimuhamedov, being a guest of honour of the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of States, held on Friday in Dushanbe, met with President of Tajikistan Rahmon.
After the mutual greetings traditionally stipulated by the protocol, the heads of states congratulated each other on the anniversaries of independence of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan proclaimed 30 years ago, and then, having discussed in detail, assessed the current state of bilateral cooperation and determined its prospects.
President Berdimuhamedov expressed satisfaction that Turkmenistan's initiative on cooperation between the UN and ECO was officially supported by the Community of Nations in the person of the UN General Assembly, which adopted the corresponding resolution.
In this context, Emomali Rahmon emphasized that Tajikistan supports Turkmenistan's international initiatives aimed at establishing peace and security, as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the meeting, the parties were unanimous on the topicality of holding the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which will be held at the end of November this year under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan.
