U.S. Special Envoy for Afghanistan Reconciliation will visit Turkmenistan
The US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, left for Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar and Turkmenistan, U.S. Department of State reports. The U.S. State Department informs that Mr. Khalilzad will meet with Afghan leaders in Kabul and convey U.S. assurances of support for the Afghan people and security forces. It is noted that during this trip, Ambassador Khalilzad will continue to support projects and plans to expand regional ties, trade and development that will be supported by the Afghanistan Peace Agreement and contribute to the maintenance of peace. “In Doha, he will meet with two Afghan teams, encourage them and offer US support to accelerate the peace process – an immediate significant reduction in violence and a ceasefire, as well as the signing of an Agreement on a political roadmap and power-sharing as soon as possible,” the US State Department said in the statement.
