President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan to allocate funds to increase supplies of COVID-19 vaccines for the country’s population, the official Turkmen press has reported today.

At a meeting of the Extraordinary Commission of Turkmenistan to Combat the Spread of Diseases, held on Friday, Minister of Health Nurmuhammed Amannepesov informed that vaccination of the population against COVID-19 is underway in the country.

In view of the global situation and the reports from the World Health Organization on the emergence of a large number of mutated strains of coronavirus, it is necessary to strengthen the effective preventive measures being implemented in the country, the Minister said.
