On May 31, the Consulate of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation (Astrakhan city) organized a cycling event dedicated to World Bicycle Day. Established in April 2018 at the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan, this international observance celebrates the high importance of a healthy lifestyle, environmental culture, and solidarity among nations.

The sporting event kicked off at the Volga River embankment, one of the most scenic locations in the regional center. The event was attended by the staff of the Consulate as well as citizens of Turkmenistan studying at higher education institutions in Astrakhan.

Harmoniously combining the country’s rich cultural heritage with its steady progress toward new milestones of development, the cycling event organized by the Consulate reflected the motto of 2026: “Independent neutral Turkmenistan − the homeland of purposeful winged horses”. The event also made a significant contribution to further strengthening the relations of friendship, trust, and good-neighborliness.

The bicycle ride concluded in a festive and celebratory atmosphere, leaving vivid and pleasant impressions on all its participants.
