The OSCE Center in Ashgabat has opened a new office in the capital's Kopetdag Hotel. The ceremony was held on June 1 with the participation of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajyyev, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Helga Schmidt and Head of the OSCE Center in Turkmenistan John McGregor.
The opening of the new office is a reflection of the progressive development of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, which has been operating in the country since 1992.
The OSCE Center in Ashgabat cooperates with the Government of Turkmenistan and other interested parties in a number of areas related to security, economy, ecology, human rights and democracy.
As part of its activities, the OSCE Center in Ashgabat organizes various events, such as conferences, seminars, trainings and courses for representatives of state bodies, public organizations and the media of Turkmenistan.
For example, in October 2022, the organization assisted in the creation of a Center of Excellence in Cyber Security at the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan.
