If exporting Turkmen onions from 1 hectare of land, it is possible to get up to $ 5 thousand profit

Turkmenistan can turn into one of the key regional exporters of onions, says entrepreneur, graduate student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country Dovletgeldi Ballyev, as he writes in a commentary for the Turkmenistan newspaper.

The businessman estimated that the cost of 1 ton of Turkmen onions at the moment is about $ 30-40. Considering that from 1 hectare of land the average yield is about 50 tons, and the market price can reach up to $ 130-140, the cost of the crop per hectare will reach up to $ 5 thousand.

In turn, a favorable climate can create conditions for opening new prospects for onion exports to international markets — Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus. The export of white onions can be arranged to Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Red onions in Turkmenistan are grown in the Ahal (Myane-Chach) and Mary (Hanhovuz) regions, white — in the Dashoguz region. Harvesting of yellow onions is carried out in the districts of Ak Bugday and Baharden of the Ahal region.
