Maestro Gasan Mamedov invites to a concert in Ashgabat

Gasan Mamedov, violin virtuoso, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan, is known in many countries, and recognized by the fans for the maestro’s unique playing style that differ from thousands of violin sounds.

On December 20, a prominent musician will perform a solo program that symbiosis of genres and cultures in the Vatan Cinema and Concert Hall in Ashgabat.

“Music for me is an oxygen, it is a life,” Gasan Djafarovich says. “I can say with confidence that listeners who sit in the hall inspire me. I love my people and my city; for the artist, the stage is the second house, and wherever I play, I always feel at home. The first time, in childhood, I heard the sounds of a violin and I fell in love with the fascinating melody forever…”

Gasan Mamedov was born in a large family, and his parents were out of music midst, while his father was the first person who noticed the son’s propensity for a music.

“Once my dad noticed how I was in raptures listening to the program about classical music. “Do you like it?” my father asked me, and soon he took me to a music school. So, I began to take the first steps towards mastering the violin play, having rehearsal during day and night. I had very good teachers both at the music school and at the music academy, following the conservatory. And years later, when my creative work became recognizable, my father was very proud of me. He said: “This is not my son anymore – this is the son of the public,” the musician notes.

Gasan Mamedov as a member of the Ashgabat pop-folk band is a many-time a prizewinner of creative contests. Ashgabat band was the first musical group from the former Soviet Union to be invited and published under the label of the English singer, songwriter, and record producer Peter Gabriel – Real World (division of Virgin Records). Their album, City of Love, dedicated to Ashgabat, found popularity in Europe. It remains as one of Turkmenistan’s favorite composition. The violinist also collaborated with the Gunesh ensemble, as well as with many famous musicians of the world. He participated in international festivals and performed all round the world.

At present, Gasan Mamedov is a happy grandfather, and according to the maestro, he does not notice his age at all. Just recently, the violinist returned from Austria, where he gave a concert. The artist from Turkmenistan was lucky to perform at the world’s famous venues, including Oxford University.

“My wife to whom I feel everlasting gratitude is my Muse and main Inspirer. We have lived together for 40 years, and my beloved woman has always been giving me every support and she was faithful companion in everything. Therefore, I want to wish everyone love, beauty, many happy returns and inspiring discoveries. And, of course, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the concert!”

The concert program of Gasan Mamedov will be featured by Turkmen music legends – Ilyas Rejepov, Berdymurad Berdyev. National music, foreign and world classical music as well as love songs will be performed.
