In Rome negotiations were held between Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Giuseppe Conte

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Rome held today negotiations with Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte.

In the Palazzo Chigi the Turkmen leader was met with appropriate honours. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Giuseppe Conte paid a tribute of respect to national flags of two countries. Then negotiations took place.

At the meeting such themes of interaction, as trade, power, including possibilities of deliveries of Turkmen gas to the European market, transport and transit corridors connecting regions of the continent by land and sea routes were mentioned.

The role of business in relations of two countries was noted – the Italian companies are presented in the oil and gas branch, textile industry and other sectors of Turkmen economy. As to investment cooperation here actual directions were mentioned as fuel and energy complex, agrarian and industrial complex, light industry.

The culture sphere did not escape the attention. The issue of a wide experience of partnership of the Italian archeologists with Turkmen colleagues was also touched upon.

At the Turkmen-Italian meeting in the Palazzo Chigi documents were signed. Among them – the intergovernmental agreement on air communication. The memorandum of understanding on cooperation was concluded by departments of public health services of two countries. The memorandum between nature protection ministries is directed to cooperation in the sphere of estimation of risks, adaptation and decrease in influence of climate change.

One more memorandum was signed at level of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research.

During the visit the president of Turkmenistan also met with Italian president Sergio Mattarella in the Quirinal Palace.
