China presents the world's first autonomous cement production line
The world's first autonomous cement production line made its debut at the launch ceremony for the Seven Major Science and Technology Achievements in China's Building Materials Industry of 2025.
This breakthrough will help reduce labor costs and energy consumption during cement production.
In traditional cement plants, the preheating and calcination stage, a fundamental process in cement production, usually requires at least six to ten on-site workers. However, the autonomous production line has achieved full automation.
With the autonomous production line, many positions that previously required on-site operations have been moved to an intelligent operation center.
Based on the physical factory buildings, a virtual 3D digital factory has been constructed, from which workers can manage operations simply by moving the mouse and making a few clicks in the digital system.
All data, including production quality, environmental impact, and safety, is clearly displayed on the screens of the digital factory.
"The digitization rate of the production process control on this line exceeds 95 percent. Driven by data fueling our production, the energy consumption for cement has dropped by 24.8 percent, far below the national level I energy consumption standards, and we have achieved a 100 percent qualification rate for products leaving the factory," said Zhou Qiang, head of the operation department of the Tongchuan branch of BBMG Jidong Cement Group Co., Ltd., where the autonomous cement production line is located.
