Hong Kong marks PRC's 77th anniversary with major fireworks display over Victoria Harbour

Crowds gathered on both sides of Victoria Harbour on the evening of October 1 to watch a fireworks display marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The 23-minute show featured eight sections and 31,888 fireworks shells. Green and blue fireworks lit up the sky to music in a tribute to the country's landscapes, while golden rings resembling intersecting orbits created a cosmic-themed display.
Spectators cheered, filmed the show and remained along the waterfront afterward, continuing to take photos and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Representatives from Hong Kong's business community said the event reflected both National Day celebrations and confidence in the region's future development.
Clement Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Hong Kong Limited, said the display expressed wishes for the country's prosperity and Hong Kong's continued growth. Christine Yeung, the company's deputy chief executive officer of Life and Health, said Hong Kong would continue to draw on its openness and support from the country to create opportunities in finance, innovation, technology and talent development.
According to CCTV+, the fireworks display was one of the main events of Hong Kong's National Day celebrations. The day's program began with a flag-raising ceremony and an official reception hosted by the HKSAR government.
