Chinese researchers are combining 6G technology with robot training and validation to improve reliability and reduce costs before large-scale deployment.

At a specialized test site in Hangzhou, four-legged robots are being tested on slopes, rubble-covered surfaces and other difficult terrain. Engineers are evaluating the stability of their motion-control systems under conditions designed to resemble real-world environments.

A dedicated facility at the Beijing 6G Laboratory has also been set up to test next-generation networks together with robotic systems. Particular attention is being paid to latency and signal stability, as even a small delay between sensing, decision-making and execution can cause critical errors.

Developers say existing networks, including 5G-A, face limitations when supporting long-duration, high-precision robot operations. 6G is expected to offer near-instant latency, massive device connectivity and more stable communications.

Cloud computing could also shift part of the processing away from the robot itself, helping make devices lighter, cheaper and more energy-efficient.

Developers say some models have already received orders for nearly 100 units, with mass deliveries expected by the end of the year.

According to CCTV+, the testing infrastructure combines research, training, validation and certification. The local intelligent robotics industry is projected to exceed 10 billion yuan in output by 2027.
