First container train departs from Mudanjiang to Moscow, opening a new logistics corridor between China and Russia
Logistics is not just the movement of goods but the circulatory system of the economy, connecting cities, regions and countries. New routes shorten distances not only on the map but also in the minds of entrepreneurs, opening up previously inaccessible opportunities for growth and cooperation.
On Tuesday, the first container freight train connecting the city of Mudanjiang in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province with Moscow departed, opening a new cross-border logistics channel between China and Russia that is expected to significantly reduce transport costs for local exporters. The first train, loaded with footwear, household appliances and everyday goods, left the Mudanjiang Industrial Park on Tuesday morning and will enter Russia through the Suifenhe border crossing before continuing its journey to the Russian capital.
The new dedicated route is intended to reduce operating costs for export-oriented companies operating in the park and to improve the stability of their production and logistics chains. In the past, companies located in Mudanjiang often had to organise logistics operations themselves or send goods through remote consolidation centres, which involved multiple transshipments, long delivery times and high costs.
As reported by CCTV+, the launch of the first Mudanjiang–Moscow container train marked an important step in the development of cross-border logistics between China and Russia. The new route will not only reduce costs for local exporters but also strengthen trade and economic ties between the regions of the two countries.
